One Fish, Two Fish… will you marry me?

The family were out on the Lake this weekend when we came across this fish. MisterIMG_4304* told us it was a sucker fish. Later, this is our conversation.

Me: Do you think that sucker fish survived?

Mister: No way. He floated back up after we went away. Man, he was ugly!

Me: Really? He just looked like a fish.

Mister: No. He was really ugly.

Me: What makes a fish ugly?

Mister: I don’t know, but that one was ugly.

Me: What about rainbow trout? Are they pretty fish?

Mister: And speckled trout. They are good too. And pickerel.

Me: So the pike we have on the wall, is that one ugly?

Mister: Yup. Larry the Lunker is definitely ugly.

Me: So why do we have something so ugly on our wall?

Mister: Maybe he is not so ugly. Especially if you compare him to a sturgeon.

Me: Have you caught one of those?

Mister: No. They are river fish and I never go fishing in rivers. And, I don’t fish for bottom feeders.

Me: So, to sum up, if I was to marry a fish I would avoid suckers, pike and sturgeon and find me a good trout.

Mister: Is this going on the blog?

Me: Yup.

Mister: Good night.

Mister is no fun. I think I would marry the sturgeon just to spite him so that every time he came over to see me (because he can’t stay away) he would have to talk to Sturgy and look him in the beady eyes and know that he, basically, made me marry him. No one else to blame really.

As an aside, I don’t think the sturgeon is really that ugly (maybe it is because I was willing to marry him so he is growing on me). I do believe, however, that Mister doesn’t like him because Sturgy can grow a kick ass moustache and because he was moving in on his wife.

Will you marry me?

*Mister refers (obviously) to my husband. I got sick of calling him my husband and he didn’t like ‘hairy toes’ so I am now calling him Mister because that is what the dog calls him.
