You Don’t Know Me!

You Don't Know Me!

Actually, you might know me, but what fun is a headline that says–You probably know a bunch of stuff about me, but here’s more!

If you are new to Adulting In Progress, let me introduce myself. I’m Kristine and my blog used to be called MumRevised. Now you…

With the formalities out of the way, let me introduce some of my favourite things or facts that you don’t know about me:

  1. Of all the simulated flavours, banana is my favourite. Watermelon is my least favourite because it is disgusting.
  2. I like the corner piece of the lasagna.
  3. I used to think I would like to do photography until I realized I wasn’t interested in learning about f stops/incapable of learning about f stops.
  4. I don’t eat red meat. Ever since I was pregnant with Shaggy (16 years ago), I haven’t been able to enjoy beef or lamb.
  5. On the same vein… I can’t enjoy goats cheese or sheep’s milk cheese. To me, they taste like a farm.
  6. My ‘about me’ picture was taken at the gyno office.
  7. I tried eyelash extensions and loved them until I developed an allergy and my eyelids swelled up to three times their normal size and a lovely shade of magenta.
  8. I will never complain about the heat because I think it is hypocritical to complain about heat and cold and I always complain about the cold.
  9. It took me three years of resolutions to go from a coffee with double cream and double sugar to black. Now, if a grain of sugar or drop of milk goes near my coffee, it is ruined.
  10. I use essential oils that my family calls witch oils but they seem to work for all of us fixing problems from warts to plantar fasciitis.
  11. I participated in a team triathlon–almost drowning in the ocean off Melbourne (Our team each did all three legs but only 1/4 of each distance. The guy I was handing our team baton to showed up late and I waited in the coral for 10 minutes before he arrived.)
  12. I raised more than $50k for breast cancer by starting a charity called Pedicure for the Cure.
  13. I worked for Bruce Croxon who has been featured on Shark Tank and courtside at the Raptors games. #WeTheNorth
  14. My first car was a ’67 Chevy Malibu in powder blue.
  15. One of my superpowers is parallel parking. It might have been a throwback from learning to drive in a Suburban.
  16. I lived in Thunder Bay my whole life but was born in Port Arthur (a referendum to amalgamate the cities of Port Arthur and Fort William into Thunder Bay happened just after I was born).
  17. We honeymooned in Fiji on our way to move from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Melbourne, Australia for a three-year secondment. (The guy at the Air Canada ticket counter actually asked if we really wanted one-way tickets.)
  18. I officiated my cousin’s wedding. I will write on that later this month–stay tuned.
  19. I am only 11 days into a 30 writing challenge and I am struggling for content which is why this post is so erratic.
  20. I sometimes write for other websites. Here are my two most recent submissions. Please follow and share. That makes me happy.

  1. It’s surprising to me that you’re struggling with the writing challenge because you make it look so easy. And I’m pretty sure I recognize your “about me” picture from a previous post, but I’m also intrigued by your profile pic in which you look like you have red hair.
Also I can understand that you gave up photography because you didn’t give a f-stop.

  2. Well, you could have had 20 more days of writing if you had taken each one and written a blog about it. There are several there that I want to hear the back story on.
You really make this look so easy!

  3. I read this and hunk ‘jeez we have a lot in common’! Guess that’s why we’re friends! What do you think blue cheese tastes like?

  4. “Tell me something I don’t know about you. Please.” OK, but I am going to do it by writing my responses to your list of facts. I’ve done this a few times before on other blogs, including The Bloggess. I think it annoyed her, so if it annoys you then please feel free to delete and say mean things to me. I know you are Canadian, but you can do it if you really try. Here we go…

    1. Of all the simulated flavours, banana is my favourite. Watermelon is my least favourite because it is disgusting. [I love all things banana. I like watermelon flavored candy, can’t stand real watermelon.]

    2. I like the corner piece of the lasagna. [While a huge fan of lasagna, not so much with the corner piece. Too crusty.]

    3. I used to think I would like to do photography until I realized I wasn’t interested in learning about f stops/incapable of learning about f stops. [I immediately formed a response in my head to this one, but I see Chris kinda beat me to it. I’ll say it my way though. You probably dropped quite a few f-bombs when trying to learn about f-stops.]

    4. I don’t eat red meat. Ever since I was pregnant with Shaggy (16 years ago), I haven’t been able to enjoy beef or lamb. [I eat red meat, white meat, dark meat…you get the idea.]

5.On the same vein… I can’t enjoy goats cheese or sheep’s milk cheese. To me, they taste like a farm. [I once ate a goat cheese pizza in Romania. I never ate a goat cheese pizza again; in any country.]

    6. My ‘about me’ picture was taken at the gyno office. [I’d have a similar one if I’d taken a selfie while having the ole prostate checked.]

    7. I tried eyelash extensions and loved them until I developed an allergy and my eyelids swelled up to three times their normal size and a lovely shade of magenta. [I once tried a phallic extension. Probably said too much already.]

    8. I will never complain about the heat because I think it is hypocritical to complain about heat and cold and I always complain about the cold. [Same here. If I do come close to complaining about the heat, I always add a disclaimer that it is still better than the cold.]

    9. It took me three years of resolutions to go from a coffee with double cream and double sugar to black. Now, if a grain of sugar or drop of milk goes near my coffee, it is ruined. [I’ve never been a coffee drinker. I thought I was admirable for denying this one vice amongst many I have not. However, just last week my doctor told me to start drinking coffee to help with my liver malady. Go figure. I still haven’t had any yet. Guess I should go take a coffee break now.]

    10. I use essential oils that my family calls witch oils but they seem to work for all of us fixing problems from warts to plantar fasciitis. [Back from my coffee break, yuck. I need to look into these witch oils of yours. I get some hellacious plantar fasciitis when I’m hiking.]

    11. I participated in a team triathlon–almost drowning in the ocean off Melbourne (Our team each did all three legs but only 1/4 of each distance. The guy I was handing our team baton to showed up late and I waited in the coral for 10 minutes before he arrived.) [Glad you didn’t drown. I once played in a Donkey Basketball game. I never scored a basket but I did get to clean up a lot of donkey doo.]

    12. I raised more than $50k for breast cancer by starting a charity called Pedicure for the Cure. [You are an awesome human being. I am a terrible human being, although I did run/walk in a race to help my wife raise funding for the Arthritis Foundation.]

    13. I worked for Bruce Croxon who has been featured on Shark Tank and courtside at the Raptors games. #WeTheNorth [Congrats on the championship!]

    14. My first car was a ’67 Chevy Malibu in powder blue. [Mine was a ’75 Chevy Impala in melodic maroon. I made the “melodic” part up. A little alliteration feels nice rolling off the tongue.]

    15. One of my superpowers is parallel parking. It might have been a throwback from learning to drive in a Suburban. [My kryptonite is parallel parking. Probably stemming from the fact that at age 16 I took my driver’s test in a yellow Chevy Malibu station wagon that we referred to as the yellow submarine. I actually got it perfectly positioned in between the two poles on the course when I remembered my cousin saying she failed the test because she didn’t back up enough into the spot. I eased up on the brake and smacked the back pole, knocking it over. Now I’ll circle the block 522 times to get a regular parking spot. Don’t even get me started on backing up a trailer. I fail miserably as a man in this department.]

    16. I lived in Thunder Bay my whole life but was born in Port Arthur (a referendum to amalgamate the cities of Port Arthur and Fort William into Thunder Bay happened just after I was born). [I wish I grew up in a place with as cool a name as Thunder Bay. I was born in Marshall, TX; moved at age 15 to New Boston, TX. In the middle of my senior year I moved to Ramstein, West Germany. After that I joined the Navy and have lived in Great Lakes, IL; Long Beach, CA; Dahlgren, VA; Jacksonville, FL. Got out of the Navy and since then have lived in Oxnard, CA; Ventura, CA; and finally Virginia Beach, VA. You didn’t need to know all that did you?]

    17. We honeymooned in Fiji on our way to move from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Melbourne, Australia for a three-year secondment. (The guy at the Air Canada ticket counter actually asked if we really wanted one-way tickets.) [I honeymooned in a Holiday Inn in Texarkana, TX; also honeymooned at Lake O’ The Pines near Jefferson, TX; and also honeymooned in Las Vegas. If you’re wondering, yes, three marriages.]

    18. I officiated my cousin’s wedding. I will write on that later this month–stay tuned. [I got drunk at my cousin’s wedding.]

    19. I am only 11 days into a 30 writing challenge and I am struggling for content which is why this post is so erratic. […and I’m struggling to catch up on all your posts, so you are doing fine.]

    20. I sometimes write for other websites. Here are my two most recent submissions. Please follow and share. That makes me happy. [I used to write things and save them away in a hidden folder for fear of anyone reading them. I finally started a blog three years ago and “came out” so to speak. Now I have a fear of nobody reading them. You, on the other hand, rock!]

    • I’m not annoyed at all! I love that you took the time to prove great minds can think alike and apart and still understand each other. We both got drunk at a cousin’s wedding, Thunder Bay is ON the Great Lakes, plantar fasciitis and our love of simulated banana. I can’t agree with you on watermelon, but I respect your courage to say it out loud! You will get used to the coffee. Try, try again.
